UK Postage

 

Within the UK I will always use Royal Mail Tracked 24 Service (with signature) as default. I charge £5.00 for this service (which is actually less than the cost to me) and I will provide a tracking number upon dispatch, although Royal Mail should be aiming to deliver within 24 hours. This service also includes insurance up to £150. For higher value parcels, Royal Mail Special Delivery is available which covers insurance up to £750 within the UK.

International Shipping with Royal Mail

 

I ship internationally all the time. In fact, I would estimate that over 75% of all the pens I have sold live in collections outside of the UK. 

The default shipping method for a single pen is the Royal Mail International Tracked service which is £15 to everywhere outside of the UK. This small parcel service offers the ability to track the package and ensures the pen is insured up to £250.

For multiple (or high value) purchases within the same parcel (above £200), the price of shipping with Royal Mail International Tracked service increases to £20. This increased cost covers an insurance value up to £250. If your purchases exceed this £250 limit, you may still proceed with this shipping option but please be aware that in the event of loss or damage I am only able to reclaim (and therefore only able to refund) to a maximum value of £250. To ensure the full value of the parcel is insured I would recommend using the DHL Express delivery option.

In my experience, the Royal Mail International Tracked service typically delivers your pen within approximately 2 weeks. Please note, I can not guarantee delivery timescales with this service and if you need your parcel to arrive by a particular date I would recommend using the DHL Express service outlined below.

If you have chosen the Royal Mail option you should have been supplied with a tracking number and you should be able to follow your parcel's delivery progress. If your parcel still has not arrived after one month please get in touch to discuss submitting a 'lost parcel' claim. I am unable to offer a refund for lost parcels until this claim has been submitted and accepted by Royal Mail.

PLEASE NOTE - AUGUST 2025 UPDATE

All shipments to the USA are now subject to a 10% import fee which is to be paid to Black Robin Pens at the time of purchase. Once you have checked out through the website I will calculate the necessary fees and send a separate invoice to your provided email address. This 10% import fee is then paid by me to Royal Mail on your behalf when I purchase the postage label (who in turn will pass it to USPS).

This new system should ensure that your parcel is efficiently passed through customs when it enters the US and should prevent any delays and negate the possibility of an incorrect import tariff being applied or a flat rate fee being imposed.

International Shipping with DHL Express

 

If your pen purchase exceeds £250 I would recommend using the DHL Express shipping service. The cost for this can fluctuate slightly depending on location but I have found that a flat rate of £50 is sufficient to cover most locations with full insurance for values up to £1000.

As well as the increased insurance and peace of mind using this option you can also look forward to receiving your pen much faster with average delivery times of 3 working days (excludes weekends).

Please note, the 10% import fee to the US is NOT covered in this option and the 10% + a handling/brokerage fee will be payable to DHL to release your parcel from customs.
